I have already shared tons of pictures of the wedding, especially on Instagram but I want to tell you about my experience, how did it all go, and give you some tips in the process.

I'm starting the series with the "DRESS"- no matter if you love fashion or not…the wedding dress is one of those things we start dreaming about when we are about 5…

When I was little I wanted a strapless mermaid dress… when I got engaged, something changed. I didn't want any cup-cakey dress or anything that reminded me of a quinceañera dress. Early in the process, we knew we wanted to get married on the beach…so I knew I wanted (1) a flowy, not heavy dress, (2) some type of back detail or a bare back, and (3) I realized I was more drawn to embellished dresses than lace dresses.

__________

After I had that gorgeous ring on my hand, everyone would ask me about the dress and I was very laid back about it. I was obviously looking on the internet and pinning everything I liked on a little board on Pinterest. Everyone started telling me to hurry because dresses can take months and months to arrive and then you have to add the tailoring time.

So I call one of my bridesmaids and headed to Miracle Mile ( a street in Miami where you can find tons and tons of wedding dresses stores). I really didn't know what to expect, I have never tried on a wedding dress before. The salesperson would ask what I was looking for and then they would pull out dresses that kind of match what I wanted.  That first trip was more about understanding my options and seeing what I liked in person. When I got home, my mom told me about a place called Rosa Clará ; so I went online and saw every single dress…and guess what ? I fell in love with one…the one that would become my dress at the end.  So I made an appointment and I was in the store in less than a week.

________

Guess what happened? They didn't have the sample of the UGO. So the saleswomen (Stephanie in case want to go there, she was so helpful) starting pulling out dresses that had similar characteristics so I could imagine…I tried a dress that had the embellishment, another one that had the same skirt, and another one that had the same bust. I ended up really liking another dress from Aire Barcelona but the UGO was still on my mind. The good news were that the Ugo is part of a more affordable line from Rosa Clará called Soft.  I liked it so much that I started researching what other stores had it…the closest one was in Tampa and I almost drove 3 hours just to try it on.

I wanted to continue looking just in case and I ended up in David's Bridal to see Vera Wang's collection for them. I  honestly think that David's Bridal is like the Target of wedding dresses; some look very cheap and there are also very pretty and affordable options. Iended up loving a strapless-mermaid dress…very similar to the one I used to dream about when I was a little girl. This was the moment when I started getting confused. I was in between the classic dress I wanted as a little girl vs the modern dress that was appropriate and perfect NOW.

A couple of weeks later my parents traveled to Miami so we went together…I really wanted them to see it and tell me what they though…but they were so supportive, they just said that they were going to love whatever I choose. I'm glad they were that way, your dress should be YOUR choice- people always have an opinion and some people might like it and some wont' (guess what? you are the one wearing it!!). God heard my prays and Rosa Clará called me saying that they finally had the UGO in store. So I ran there and finally tried it on! Yes, the price was a little more than I wanted to pay but HELLO if it's your wedding dress, it's not the time to be cheap (i'm not saying that you should go get an original $25,000 Vera Wang…stay on your budget but don't make a decision fully based on price).

As you already know, I chose the UGO and it took 5 months to get to Miami.  We ordered it in May and we got it in October…so during those 5 months, my mind went a little crazy. I started thinking "maybe I should have order another one" "what if it doesn't fit correctly". The expectation is so much that you start second-guessing yourself. Around my birthday, I finally got the call "YOUR DRESS IS HERE". Then it was time to get it tailored…and I finally had the dress in my hands a day before the wedding!!

At first I didn't want to wear a veil; but I realized that since the silhouette of my dress was simple , I could add a long veil to add a little drama during the ceremony. Another key featured you should look for in your dress is making sure you can shorten the tail during the party; mine came with three little buttons. I don't believe in purchasing two dresses (one for the ceremony and one for the party); I feel like the dress is so special that you should wear as much as you can!

Also, remember that choosing your wedding dress is like choosing your future husband- you know that there MIGHT be something better out there but you must trust yourself and that you made the right choice.

_________

¿y si no me queda bien?

"Also, remember that choosing your wedding dress is like choosing your future husband- you know that there MIGHT be something better out there but you must trust yourself and that you made the right choice." ... Thank you thank you for these words! I'm planning for my wedding in September and thinking about the perfect dress is just so much pressure and stresses me out. Now I know I should trust my instincts! You look amazing, Daniela!

  18. The view at this place was amazing. This event was in the evening so it’s really a site to see when the sun sets. Just beautiful! If you are planning your wedding at this location for vows, don't worry too much about how to make it look even more beautiful.
